spring update! new album campaign closing!

i trust this april is going well so far!!  i personally am enjoying the fact that it is almost summer.  here is our latest vlog post.

RIGHT NOW WE HAVE RAISED $ 4,910 / $ 7,000.  THANK YOU SO FAR!!

BUT WE ARE NOT DONE!!!!!!

And in other news, we are playing a FREE SHOW at The Old Town School of Folk Music on WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 29th @ 8:30 pm as part of their World Music Wednesday Series.  WE ARE SO EXCITED!  AND OH YEAH, IT IS FREE…….AND ALL AGES!!!

There will be 4 killin’ groups: Bloco Maximo will join us by opening the evening with Chicago’s very own Samba Dance Troupe Folia Tropicalia.  And then we are pleased to say we get to rock out with Native Sun – a London based hip hop group (check ‘em out right here and listen to them below!)  and then we hit!!  YES!!!

last night we caught A NASTY SHOW AT MULTI-KULTI!!  (1000 n. milwaukee)  some of the coolest people we know (cole degenova, paul hall, garrett mcginn, brian funky man quinn.com, george nasty, caroline davis and some other really awesome babes) just completely KILLED some Fly and the Family Stone tunes.  it was completely out of this world  YES!!!!

Bloco Maximo opened for them and got the night going with some fresh and funky beatz.  it was truly a blast.  they played with such dynamic intensity that even a Weezer cover band would be jealous.

at tonights show fatbook will be dishing out a free cd!!  the cd will feature 2 tracks (Heavy Roads and My My My) recorded live with our good friend marlon.  For the session we had: cole degenova on keys, matt wilson on bass, ross catterton on sax, justin woodward on trumpet, evan on trombone, harji on guitar and vocals, ted on vocals, and reed on drums.  here are some pics from the mix down.

also, here are some pics from the joint rehearsal of bloco maximo and fatbook in preparation for the show tonight.  it was packed in at the dragon’s lair and everyone was really feeling it.

some of us caught the bad plus at the showcase this weekend and absolutely loved it!!  so inspiring.  the crew in bloco maximo has been sitting on the physical cities break for a while and now it has come to fruition.  please enjoy a brief performance by matt (timbal), peter (caixa), kyle (8″ BACURINHA!!! owned by REED), ted (surdo), harji (surdo), and reed (tamborim) FROM THE DRAGON’S LAIR!
